Privacy statement
Short version: we don't track you, we don't use cookies, and the data you put in BillApe never reaches us.

Who we are
BillApe is a free, open-source app made in the Netherlands. For questions about privacy, email info@billape.com. We follow the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, in Dutch: AVG).
The BillApe app
- Everything you enter in BillApe is stored on your own device, encrypted with your password. We can't see it, and we never receive it.
- BillApe has no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no crash reporting. It doesn't contact our servers.
- If you turn on sync, your encrypted data goes to the server you choose and run. We have no access to it.
- Exports you make (CSV, SQLite, calendar files) are not encrypted. Keep them somewhere safe.
This website
- No cookies and no tracking or analytics of any kind.
- All fonts, images and code are served from our own server. We don't load anything from other companies.
- The server does not keep visitor logs. To stop abuse of the contact form, it keeps your IP address in memory for at most an hour; it is never written to disk.
The contact form and email
When you send a message, we store your name, email address, topic and message on our own server so we can answer you. The legal basis is your consent, which you give with the checkbox on the form.
- We only use these details to reply to you. We never sell or share them, and we never add you to a mailing list.
- Messages are deleted automatically after 12 months, or sooner if you ask.
- The same applies when you email us directly.
Where the data is kept
This website and the contact form run on a server we rent from Hetzner Online GmbH in the European Union. Hetzner only provides the server and processes data on our behalf. Your data does not leave the EU.
Your rights
You can ask us to see, correct or delete the details we have about you, to stop using them, or to give you a copy. You can withdraw your consent at any time. Email info@billape.com and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
If we change this statement, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
